Fellowship Programs

Overview:
The Professional Education & Training Unit of Magrabi Foundation is pleased to initiate Fellowship Programs in collaboration with Magrabi Hospital. The program aims to enable the fellows to attain competency in one of the subspecialties of; Glaucoma, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Oculo-Plastic Surgery, Retina, Vision rehabilitation, and Investigative Ophthalmology.

Duration:
3-6 months course (three days per week)

Learning objectives:
By the end of the lectures and the series of workshops
of this program, the Participants will:
Develop their medical and clinical competences including the diagnosis and management of the full spectrum of disorders in one of the following Sub-specialties of Ophthalmology: Glaucoma, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Oculo-Plastic Surgery, Retina, Vision rehabilitation, and Investigative Ophthalmology

This program is suitable for:
Ophthalmologist holding master’s degree or undergoing their master’s degree or its equivalence and are interested in gaining experience in the clinical and medical management of Glaucoma, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Oculo- Plastic Surgery, Retina, Vision rehabilitation and Investigative Ophthalmology

Note: 1 participant per run in each specialty except for the Low vision Rehabilitation 2 participants per run can apply.

Activities:
The participants will shadow and participate in the activities of the outpatient’s clinics in any of the above-mentioned sub-specialties in accordance with their documented agreement with their supervising consultant

This program will provide the following:
• Clinical examination skills:
Participants will attend with the consultants as they regularly perform evaluations, and consultations, including history and examination, which involve the techniques of ophthalmology specific to sub-specialty and related ocular and systemic conditions.
• Technical clinical examinations:
Participants will be exposed to the various usages of specialized diagnostic and investigative tests appropriate to the sub-specialty
• Therapeutics:
Participants will become familiar with the indications for and limitations of pharmacological, laser, surgical, therapies that may be recommended for patients with related conditions to each sub-specialty
• Observation of surgical procedures in arrangement with the supervising consultant
• Participate in medical education activities
• Participate in related research activities

Final award:
• Fellowship certificate from The Magrabi Foundation
• Attendance certificate from The Magrabi Foundation after meeting the (pass) requirements of the fellowship.
